1 Year Goal (2025):

Identify the current status of the water and sewer fund and contractors, identify succession planning, and decide on future changes needed.

5 Year Goal (2029):

Identify all existing water and sewer infrastructure and road right-of-ways and establish maintenance plans.

10 Year Goal (2034):

Remain property tax rate neutral while improving services and creating a solvent operational water and sewer fund.

Yard Waste Policy

  • Yard waste pick-up is provided every other week.
  • Limbs no longer than 4 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter will be picked up.
  • Grass clippings and leaves must be bagged.
  • No stumps or tree trunks will be collected.
  • Piles may not exceed 1.5 cubic yards.
  • All items must be placed on the curbside on the designated day of pick-up.
  • The Town Administrator may schedule a special yard waste pick-up day after storms.
  • Should a resident violate any section of this policy, the administration will send a letter notifying the resident of the violation and ask to remove the yard waste as soon as possible.

Bulk pick-up policy

  • Bulk pick-up is provided every other month.
  • No used motor oil or oil-based paints will be picked up.

Utility Policy

  • The Village of Alamance will send a signed letter no later than a week before a potential
    water cut-off stating the Village’s intent to disconnect a resident’s water along with the date of
    disconnection. The Administration will follow up with a phone call no earlier than three days
    before the potential water disconnection to inform the resident of the Village’s intent to
    disconnect the water service. A door hanger will be left on the resident’s door notifying them of
    the disconnection once it happens.
  • The Village’s water bill due date will alternate between the 3rd or 4th Wednesday of
    each month.
  • The Village’s water cut date will be the 3rd Wednesday of each month unless otherwise specified.
  • The Village will perform a leak report each month and notify customers of potential leaks.
  • All residents who purchase water and/or sewer services from outside the cooperate boundaries of the Village will pay double for service.
  • Once a water leak occurs on a resident’s property it is the responsibility of the resident to obtain a letter from a certified plumber stating what the origin of the leak was, an estimate for gallons lost, and asserting that no water went into the Village’s sewer system to receive a credit for the sewer portion of a utility bill.
