OTHER BUSINESS

Engineer Report:

The street repair work on Cardinal Ln is still waiting for the storm drainage to be completed; they are working with Mr. Roll on an easement issue. There is a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th, at Mr. Reichs office with Attorney Koonts and Mr. Roll to try to resolve the issue. Geotech reports for Heritage Glen had to be sent back due to them not being sealed by an engineer. They have not received them back yet. At this time, no other work had taken place.  Hazen/Sawyer has indicated that they will perform the UDF work in the last week of May. Tradition Dr. had a request, and some back and forth with pricing to take up riprap and replace it, due to debris buildup. No decision has been made regarding fixing the riprap.

New Business

Swearing in of New Town Clerk. Mayor Tichy swears in Hannah Chrystyne Quigley as the Town Clerk.

Swearing in of New Town Administrator. Mayor Tichy swears in Misty Leigh Folwell as Town Administrator.

Formal Contract for Ms. Folwell states that if she leaves the Village of Alamance within six months, any classes she has taken will be reimbursed to the Town. If Ms. Folwell is fired, she will receive two months’ severance pay. Alderman Andrews makes a motion to approve the contract. Seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Isley. Motion carries 5-0

Mayor Tichy discusses the minor changes in the New Budget. There will not be a change in tax rates. Mayor Tichy is awaiting confirmation from the City of Burlington regarding a potential 5% increase in water rates; if approved, water and sewer rates will also increase by 3%.

Mayor Tichy discusses the needed sidewalk repairs. There are multiple sections where the sidewalk continues to sink, causing further damage. Instead of patching the issue, he would like to resolve and fully repair the sidewalks correctly. Mayor Tichy would like to see a report on where all the repairs are needed. Mayor Tichy has requested a report from Mark.

Approval of Rusty’s contract. There has been an increase in gasoline, where there was a minor change in the contract. Alderman Cheap makes a motion to approve Rusty’s contract—Seconded by Alderman Andrews. Motion carries 5-0.

Alderman Crouse brought up the overgrowth in Heritage Glen at the Slave Cemetery. Mayor Tichy states that Rusty is mowing and maintaining our rights-of-way and sewer easement, but there is no maintenance being performed in the actual Cemetery. The council has requested that Rusty inspect the overgrowth to determine if it is something he can address.

Alderman Cheap made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Crouse. Motion carries 5-0.
