ONGOING BUSINESS
Engineer Report
Mr. Reich said that the street repairs and Cardinal Ln work would begin when the weather is warmer and dryer. The County is waiting for a site plan for the utility building, which will come when the contractor stakes the building’s location. Hazen & Sawyer will submit a bill soon, which was under the do-not-exceed figure. Arnold has advised that he does not have the manpower for the proposed unidirectional flushing. The village will need to confirm with Burlington that they will not be invoiced for the cost of the flushing. Mr. Reich confirmed with Mr. Farmerie that the Village had received the reimbursement check from the PDA dialer overcharge of $15,707.98 Mr. Reich is putting together documents to submit to NCDWI for the rest of the PDA dialer reimbursement in the amount of $8,882.00.
ORC Report
Mr. Allred said that on February 12th, the Birch pump station had alarms going off throughout the day and night. Jerry Warren came the next day to clean it out. Rags and grease were clogging it, but Mr. Warren was able to get it clean and running. The auto dialer at the NC 62 pump station went out. It will be replaced at no cost as it is under warranty. The air release valves were replaced today. The old valves were air-locked, which may have been why the water was not flowing as heavily through that side. Once they were replaced the water moved at a much higher capacity. Mr. Reich and Mr. Allred think this heavier water flow from the Pond Road area could help with water quality and color. Mr. Allred said the two water valves across from the Heritage Glen entrance need to be fixed, and he has a quote of $2800.00 to get the entire job done.
Alderman Andrews motioned to enter into a contract for the work on the valves across from Heritage Glen, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Isley. Motion carries 3-0
