Reviewing Draft Survey and Disclosure

The board reviewed possible survey questions, including the importance of demographic questions to satisfy grant requirements. The board liked the idea of informing survey participants why the demographic questions were asked, so they plan to include this information in the disclosure. The other questions are designed to help guide the types of recreation the Village and ETJ residents are interested in. The board agreed that one survey per household is best. They would also like to include rent or own questions and include some of the regional parks as options.

The board would like to conduct two surveys. The first will be marked as preliminary at the top, along with the disclosure information. The second survey will offer the options the board has developed after all preliminary feedback is gathered.

Review Proposed Advertising Strategy

The board agreed that staggered advertising would be most effective. The first round of surveys will be distributed to village residents. They will be in the water bills, at the office, and online. Mr. Farmerie said they could also be distributed to the local churches.

Determining the response rate may be challenging once surveys are distributed through churches and the ETJ. If they are kept within the Village, we know the approximate number of residents and could more easily predict the percentage of participants compared to being more widely spread.

It was agreed to stagger the survey distribution and send out ETJ surveys the month after the Village residents receive them.
