The committee agreed to keep meeting lengths to about an hour each month. Mr. Farmerie showed the committee some examples of surveys that Trey Fouche had sent him. He noted that an important aspect of the surveys was a disclosure at the top informing residents that no personal information would be kept at town hall. The survey would look at general demographics and interest in a variety of recreation. There was some discussion about the formatting of the survey and how many times they should send them out. It was decided they could send out the first survey to get a general idea of the greatest areas of interest and use that information to form a second survey with specific ideas for the residents to choose from. The committee liked the formatting of the China Grove survey and decided that would make the best type to send out first. The China Grove survey had lists of activities and recreation for people choose from and some space to write in additional ideas not represented. Mr. Cheap was interested to know how other small towns had implemented the knowledge gained from the surveys to create parks or other recreation facilities. A field trip to Lucama or China Grove was briefly discussed. Mr. Farmerie said he would try to have a sample survey made for the November meeting with the following information included in it; Residential status, Number of years lived in the Village, Total number of people in the home, Age ranges, What do they like about projected sites, Do they have a pet. The committee agreed that the simpler the survey the better the chance of response.

The committee looked at a map of vacant land in and around Village. Each member noted what area they liked most for a recreation facility. They overall tabled any further discussion of location for next month.

The mission statement was table for next month.
