Voluntary Water Conservation Notice

Stage I – Voluntary Water Conservation Notice

Stage I – Voluntary Water Conservation Notice

Effective July 7, 2026 – until further notice

The Village of Alamance is implementing Stage I – Voluntary Water Conservation effective immediately in accordance with the Village’s Water Shortage Response Plan.

Current drought conditions and regional water supply concerns make it important for all customers to voluntarily reduce water consumption. By conserving water now, we can help preserve our water resources and reduce the likelihood that mandatory restrictions will become necessary.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to:

  • Limit lawn and landscape watering to only when necessary.
  • Operate dishwashers and clothes washers only with full loads.
  • Take shorter showers and reduce unnecessary indoor water use.
  • Minimize car washing and use a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle when washing is necessary.
  • Avoid washing sidewalks, driveways, patios, or other paved surfaces with potable water.
  • Check plumbing fixtures, irrigation systems, and toilets for leaks and repair them promptly.
  • Use water wisely and eliminate unnecessary water waste whenever possible.

At this time, Stage I is voluntary, and no mandatory water use restrictions have been implemented.

The Village of Alamance will continue to monitor drought conditions and the status of the regional water supply. Should conditions worsen, additional conservation measures may be implemented in accordance with the Village’s Water Shortage Response Plan.

We appreciate the cooperation of all residents and businesses in helping conserve this valuable resource.
